Call for annual awareness week against extremism

Tunis: The 34th meeting of Arab Interior Ministers' Council recommended more cooperation and coordination between Arab countries in fighting terrorism as well as holding an annual week to spread awareness against extremism threats. The week is to be held during the period spanning from January 4 to 10, every year.
The meeting urged in its final communiqué the intensification of awareness programmes on dangers of extremism and terrorism in the Arab world. The Council also endorsed bestowing Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia with Prince Naif Medal for Arab Security for his pioneering role in supporting Arab and Islamic causes, as well as his efforts in preserving world peace and security. The Council appreciated King Salman's stances supporting the Palestinian cause, his support of the legitimacy in Yemen and his initiative to establish Islamic Coalition to combat terrorism as well as establishment of King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works.
