Environment Minister inspects meadows, nature reserves

DOHA: Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie conducted an inspection visit to a number of meadows within Al Reem Reserve, including Rawdat Al Nu’man, Al Ham, Al Haime, and the Umm Al Maa area, in addition to Ashirij Nature Reserve.

The visit comes as part of efforts to monitor the conditions of the meadows and assess their environmental status.

During the tour, His Excellency reviewed the level of vegetation growth in the meadows and its response to the recent rainfall season.

He also followed up on environmental rehabilitation works and the efforts being made to preserve soil quality and wild plants.

In addition, he listened to briefings from specialists on the measures in place to protect the meadows, as well as environmental awareness programmes aimed at ensuring their sustainability and safeguarding their biodiversity.

During the visit, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change directed that field patrols in these areas be intensified to monitor compliance with approved environmental regulations, particularly during weekends, in order to curb environmental violations and ensure the protection of meadows and nature reserves.
