The month-long Shop Qatar festival will witness a thrilling finale tomorrow featuring a diverse lineup of entertainment headlined by Iraqi singing sensation Majid Al Mohandes and the mega-draw which will see one lucky shopper become a millionaire.

The closing ceremony, which will be held at Mall of Qatar, promises to be a fitting conclusion to the first edition of the country’s shopping festival, said organisers yesterday.

To be presented by comedian Mohamad Al Tamimi and TV presenter Hassan Al Sai, the event will offer free live performance by Al Mohandes which will be enhanced with special effects and more entertainment.  The packed entertainment schedule, which will start at 7pm, will be a celebration of diversity as it will include a traditional Qatari Ardha, a Palestinian Dabka, and an Indian show, all with light effects.

The month-long promotions and weekly raffle draws which have given away more than QR2.4m in cash prizes concludes tomorrow with final draw which will determine the winner of QR1m, in addition to 14 other winners of cash prizes ranging from QR20,000 to QR120,000.

Shoppers still have the chance to win by spending QR200 at participating retail or food and beverage outlets located in Shop Qatar’s retail partners including Mall of Qatar, Ezdan Mall, Hyatt Plaza, AlKhor Mall, Lagoona Mall, Gulf Mall, Landmark, Dar Al Salam Mall, The Gate and The Pearl-Qatar.

Shop Qatar was launched this year to celebrate the country’s diverse retail sector, which offers everything from luxury malls and high-end boutique precincts to themed, entertainment-rich shopping centres, as well as authentic souqs and bazaars.

“As the latest addition to the growing annual calendar of festivals we have developed over the past few years, Shop Qatar has been well received by residents and visitors alike. We are grateful to all of our partners in the retail, hospitality, travel and entertainment and even education sectors who have helped us provide such a rich and engaging offering throughout the month. The success we achieved through their active participation is testament to the impact that can be made through cross-sector partnerships, especially those that bring together members of the public and private sectors,” said Rashed Al Qurese, Chief Marketing and Promotion Officer at Qatar Tourism Authority.

With the anticipated opening of many new shopping and entertainment hubs, future editions of Shop Qatar are expected to pave the way for their success by driving footfall and raising awareness of the unique experiences the country has to offer.
