Doha: Qatar National Sport Day on Tuesday,, February 9, is an opportunity for all people across the country to exercise and take part in different sports activities, in an attempt to promote the importance of sports and how effective it is for individuals and families to lead a healthy lifestyle so as to reduce the risk of diseases.

As people of different age groups engage in the activities and competitions marking this special day, it is important to take the following tips into consideration:

Plan for this day by checking the events organized by the different entities.
Eat breakfast: Start your day off right with a good meal when you get up.
Supplement your body with some multi-vitamins to stay healthy and illness-free.
Walk or jog daily for 20-30 minutes.
Put on suitable clothes and comfortable sneakers.
Drink enough water to avoid dehydration.
Stop any activity if you feel exhausted and consult a doctor, if necessary.
Be sure to warm-up before engaging in different sports activities.
Leave your car away and walk longer distances.
