QTA’s strategy places emphasis on the European market.

DOHA: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) will open a representative office in Milan, Italy, at the end of this month.
The launch of QTA’s sixth office overseas is part of its efforts to promote Qatar abroad, said Rashed Al Qurese, Chief Marketing and Promotions Officer.
QTA’s strategy to reaffirm Qatar’s position on the global map of destinations places emphasis on the European market, a source market to over half of the world’s 1.18 billion tourists, according to UNWTO figures. Other representative offices are in London, Paris, Berlin, Riyadh and Singapore.
“There are factors that make this the right time to open our office in Milan, key among them is the number of Qatar Airways flights to and from Milan rising to five a day, which will help a great deal in encouraging Italian visitors to choose Qatar,” Al Qurese said, adding the trip to Italy is between five and six hours.
He made his comments at World Travel Market, the largest travel show in the world, which drew over 50,000 travel trade, consumer and media visitors on  its first day. “QTA targets discerning world travellers, who visit countries to seek cultural experiences. In promoting Qatar as a destination abroad, protecting and perpetuating our culture, traditions and heritage are always at the front of mind,” he added.
