The Gate hosted a ‘Pink Dinner’ for ladies recently. Many women groups such as Qatari Women Association, American Women Association, Egyptian Ladies Association and ladies from the media were invited for the event.
During the dinner, which was organised at Farggi, three speakers – Karen Al Kharouf, the founder of Think Pink in Doha, Dr Rajka Milovic Board Certified Family Physician and Nicole Van Hattem, Director and Founder of Art of Abundant Living – shared their experiences and knowledge about breast cancer and health awareness.
The dinner included fun elements such as hand-painting pink ribbons and a raffle draw which made seven ladies go home happily with valuable gifts from Salam Stores and Salam Perfume and Cosmetics in addition to vouchers from Jones the Grocer.
The aim of this pink dinner was for the ladies to spend a pleasant time while being given valuable information about Breast Cancer and to be conscious of our health not taking it for granted.
During the Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, The Gate went pink with pink silk decorations at its central core elevators and danglers that carried the message “Beat Cancer” while all the shops had similar stickers on their window façades and the escalators were led-lit in pink .
“The Gate is not meant to be just a luxury retail destination it is also involved with different initiatives and campaigns that benefit and improve the society of Qatar,” a company statement said.
“We will have an annual programme that will offer not just fashion, leisure and entertainment but also art exhibitions, health fairs, forums and cultural events that enhance and promote the society.”
“It is committed to social responsibility which is one of the core principal of its main share holder Salam International which will be celebrating very soon its 60th anniversary this December and throughout these long years Salam has been proud to be actively involved in the social, educational, environmental and cultural campaigns in Qatar.”
