Minister of Culture tours Baku International Book Fair

Baku: Minister of Culture H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani toured on Friday the Baku International Book Fair  as part of Qatar’s participation as the Guest of Honour at the fair, which continues until October 7.

During the tour, the Minister visited the Qatari pavilion, where he viewed the latest literary and intellectual publications issued by Qatari publishing houses, in addition to cultural events and heritage activities that reflect the national identity.

The Minister was accompanied during the tour by Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan H E Adel Karimli, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture H E Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Ali, and Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Azerbaijan H E Mohammed bin Hamad Al Hajr.

The Qatari pavilion at the fair witnessed a large turnout of visitors who interacted with the publications and accompanying programs and enjoyed the diverse cultural experience offered by the pavilion, including books, folk arts, and traditional crafts.

The Minister of Culture’s tour also included several pavilions of participating countries, where he met with publishers and intellectuals and discussed ways to enhance cooperation and develop the publishing industry, thus contributing to expanding  prospects for cultural and knowledge exchange.

For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak bin Ghanem Mohammed Al Ali  expressed his happiness with Qatar’s valuable participation in the Baku International Book Fair, emphasizing that this participation achieves the Ministry of Culture’s goals of building bridges of communication with Azerbaijan, strengthening cultural diplomacy, and promoting Qatari intellectual production.

Meanwhile, Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani met with Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan H E Adil Karimli, on the sidelines of Qatar’s participation as Guest of Honour at the Baku International Book Fair.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries in cultural fields and ways to support and develop them.

The Minister of Culture affirmed that Qatari-Azerbaijani cultural relations are strong and promising, considering Qatar’s participation as Guest of Honour in the exhibition as a reflection of the great importance of cooperation between the two countries following the Qatar Culture Days in Azerbaijan, held from April 10th to 13th.
