QNA

Doha: The Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities ( RACA), along with charitable and humanitarian workers worldwide, will mark today the International Day of Charity, celebrated on September 5 annually.

The RACA seeks, through the celebration, to highlight the pioneering role played by the State of Qatar in serving the charitable sector locally, regionally and internationally.

This year’s celebration comes amid severe humanitarian crises with some countries suffering from natural disasters and floods, and others suffering from wars and armed conflicts and ensuing mass displacements, imposing further responsibilities on charity workers.

In a statement, the RACA hailed the effective role played by charities worldwide, particularly the Qatari ones, in dealing with these crises, and responding rapidly and urgently to address the effects of these emergency crises.

This occasion helps remind all of humanity of the importance of providing assistance and affirms the radical change brought by Qatari charities in terms of the concept of humanitarian work, with giving being a cultural value entrenched in the Qatari character and an identity trait deep-rooted within the Qatari society.

This is manifested in supporting relief work, sustainable development, education and illiteracy, economic empowerment and other areas of charitable and humanitarian work that contribute to helping and developing societies, all under a high control system that ensures that aid is delivered safely to those who deserve it.

The United Nations has established the International Day of Charity to educate people, NGOs and common stakeholders worldwide to help others through volunteering and charitable activities.
