Doha, Qatar: Mowasalat (Karwa) welcomed 50 young sustainable development ambassadors from the Sustainable Development Ambassadors Centre to the Lusail Bus Depot, as part of their ‘Sustainability Coffee’ programme.
The visit provided an opportunity for the ambassadors to explore one of Qatar’s key sustainable transportation landmarks and learn more about Mowasalat (Karwa)’s contributions to the country’s sustainability and mobility goals.
The visit introduced the ambassadors to Mowasalat’s (Karwa) role in supporting sustainable transportation and national development. The participants gained valuable insights through direct engagement with the company leadership and experts, giving the ambassadors a deeper understanding of strategic planning, innovation, and sustainability in public transport.
The visit took place at the Lusail Bus Depot, a sustainability landmark and one of Qatar’s major green transportation infrastructure achievements. Recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest electric bus depot, the facility plays a key role in Mowasalat (Karwa)’s development toward more ecological transport operations. Mowasalat (Karwa) has already electrified more than 70% of its public network fleet, highlighting how clean energy, smart infrastructure, and innovation shape a future of sustainability.
The ambassadors experienced the electric buses firsthand during a guided tour, followed by a presentation and Q&A session on Mowasalat (Karwa)’s relevant initiatives, and projects, and contributions to the future of public transportation in Qatar.
This visit reflected a shared commitment of Mowasalat (Karwa) and the Sustainable Development Ambassadors Centre to promoting sustainability awareness, empowering young leaders, and supporting initiatives that contribute to Qatar’s broader development goals and long-term national vision.
