Jeddah: Saudi authorities late Monday revealed identity of the suicide bomber that set off explosives strapped to his body over the night after his suspicious moves drew security personnel's attention.
The perpetrator, Abdullah Khan, is a Pakistani born in 1981, and has been working in the Kingdom as a chauffeur for 12 years and lives in Jeddah with his wife and her parents, said the interior ministry in a statement.
The security personnel, who sustained minor injuries, approached Khan in a parking lot of Dr. Suleiman Fakeeh Hospital in Jeddah Governorate, at 02:15 am local-time. When they intercepted him for interrogation, he set off the explosives-laden belt he was wearing.
The explosion also damaged nearby cars, however no civilians were harmed with the shrapnel.
