Katara holds meeting for Senyar Championship

The Cultural Village Foundation-Katara has held a meeting of the sea-leaders participating in the sixth Senyar Championship for fishing and pearl diving to be held from April 13 to 22.
The meeting was aimed at providing them with necessary instructions and guidelines on the prerequisites to adhere to the timetables of the tournament events, without disruption to the conditions, such as deliberately leaving the area dedicated to fishing, diving and fraud operations.
They were instructed to abide by the instructions of the organising committee in terms of timing and parking stations to avoid any sanctions and penalties which can lead to the permanent elimination of the team from the championship, and  to maintain the safety of dhows from damage due to collision.
The meeting also included a detailed explanation of the general instructions of the two competitions namely Al-Hadaq and pearl diving and their conditions, computation of the results, general timing, notifications and emergency, and description of championship sites.
This edition allows all teams to participate in Al-Hadaq and Pearl Diving competitions. The diving will begin on April 13, and the Al-Hadaq will be launched on April 19 and the return of competitors will be on April 22.
The Senyar championship is expected to witness strong competitive events this year as the number of participating teams has increased.
The organising committee has awarded the title of “Sardar Senyar Qatar” to Mohammed Jowhar Al Sulaiti, first place winner of the fishing competition, and Abdullah JassimSayyar Al Tamimi, winner of the Pearl diving competition, last year. They will both participate at the Senyar Championship 2017, leading other dhows to the fishing and pearl diving spots.
The Organising Committee confirmed that Tuesday will be the last day for participating dhows to join Senyar Championship 2017. The committee will check all dhows to ensure that they are completely equipped and ready for the competition.
