Doha: H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Aljammal, Chairman of the General Authority of Customs (GAC), participated in the 55th online regional meeting of the general directors of customs in North Africa and the Near and Middle East, which was held on Tuesday.
The regional meeting discussed many topics, most notably the report of the Deputy Secretary-General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) on the organization’s strategic plan 2022-2025 and the capacity-building report. It also deliberated on the report of the regional offices for the exchange of intelligence information (RILO) 2021 and the terms of reference for selecting the membership of the countries of the North African and Near East region in the structures and committees of the WCO.
The meeting also discussed the latest developments on the electronic magazine that is provided with customs news for the countries of the region, success stories with a positive impact, and innovation policies applied to develop customs work and human resources to benefit from the experiences of customs administrations.
This comes within the periodic meetings in which the General Authority of Customs participates regionally to enhance cooperation and mutual coordination between the countries of the region in all customs fields and in line with the standards of the World Customs Organization.
