Doha: Warner Music's new album 'Sugar' featuring DJ Robin Schulz is set to propel Qatar's nascent music industry on the international stage.
The Deep House and Dance genre album features a song 'This is Your Life' recorded at Doha's Katara Studios, recently constructed in collaboration with UK recording studio Metropolis.
Doha and London-based DNA Records collaborated with DJ Robin Schulz for this song written by Dana Al Fardan. She is a Qatari songwriter and founder of the independent music label DNA Records.
The album also features vocals by Hayley Tizzard, a Doha-based British teacher, who beat other singers to being linked with the track.
DNA Records offers an inspiring example of how Qatar's nascent music scene is developing both the talent and the resources to grow.
Qatar's music industry will benefit if Schulz/Al Fardan song goes on to become a top hit. Assuming Sugar builds on the popularity of Schulz's previous album Prayer, which was awarded Gold status by the German music industry, ‘This is Your Life’ could reach millions worldwide.
DNA Records is working on a series of concerts for the end of this year and early next year, due to take place in various locations across Doha.
DNA Records will release singer-songwriter Ryan O'Reilly's debut album in 2016 summer.
