Doha: The State of Qatar has achieved a new scientific milestone reflecting the excellence of its students on the international stage, with the Qatari team winning two bronze medals in two of the world's most prominent physics Olympiads.
The achievement was earned by student Riteesh Vardhan Reddy Kangula from DPS Modern Indian School, underscoring Qatar’s growing standing in international scientific forums.
The first accomplishment came as the student secured a bronze medal at the 4th International Scientific Physics Olympiad (ISPhO 2026), held remotely under the sponsorship and supervision of the Russian Federation from June 21 to 30, 2026.

The event witnessed broad participation from students representing various countries, who competed in advanced theoretical and practical physics examinations.
The student continued his success by winning a second bronze medal at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2026), hosted by the city of Bucaramanga in the Republic of Colombia from July 4 to 12, 2026.
The tournament featured intense competition among nearly 400 male and female students from over 90 countries, who underwent high-level theoretical and practical scientific tests.
This dual achievement comes as the fruit of a comprehensive training plan supervised by the Physics Section of the Educational Guidance Department within the Educational Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in cooperation with a elite group of international trainers.
The Qatari team underwent an intensive qualification program focused on developing scientific skills, enhancing critical and creative thinking, and honing theoretical and practical abilities to enable them to compete in the world's premier scientific competitions.
The International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) is considered the oldest and largest global physics competition for high school students, while the International Scientific Physics Olympiad (ISPhO) serves as an advanced international platform to attract outstanding students and assess their theoretical and practical capabilities, contributing to the development of scientific creativity and fostering academic and cultural exchange among participants worldwide.
