Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has concluded its 2026 Summer Student Activities programme after a month of learning, creativity and skills development that engaged more than 950 students.
Held under the theme “Invest Their Summer in Creativity,” the 2026 Summer Student Activities programme brought together students across four government school centres, offering more than 500 activities designed to enhance their knowledge, talents and personal development through educational, cultural, technological and recreational experiences.
The closing ceremony held yesterday was attended by MoEHE Undersecretary H E Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, marking the end of an initiative designed to enrich students’ summer break through educational, cultural and recreational activities.
The programme forms part of the ministry’s broader strategy to develop an integrated education system that supports students’ holistic growth while contributing to the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 by strengthening human capital and equipping future generations with the knowledge and skills needed to meet future challenges.
This year’s edition was organised in partnership with 22 organisations and featured activities spanning a wide range of disciplines. Students participated in programmes covering culture, arts, creativity and design, sustainability and climate change, Islamic education, science, technology and artificial intelligence, communication skills, sports, health and nutrition, cybersecurity, digital solutions, as well as initiatives promoting national identity and educational values. The centres were established at Khalifa Secondary School for Boys, Al Wakra Secondary School for Boys, Amna Bint Wahab Secondary School for Girls, and Al Khor Secondary School for Girls.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Assistant Director of the Schools and Students Affairs Department, Fatima Yousef Al Obaidli said the Summer 2026 centres reflected the ministry’s commitment to investing in human capital by creating a safe and stimulating educational environment that nurtures students’ personalities while enhancing their knowledge and practical skills.
She noted that the Ministry considers student activities an essential component of education, stressing that character development extends beyond the classroom to include the experiences and skills students gain through interactive learning. According to Al Obaidli, the programme successfully combined education with entertainment, helping participants strengthen values such as social responsibility, teamwork and national identity while boosting their confidence and personal development.
Al Obaidli added that the centres delivered a rich variety of training workshops, competitions, educational visits and community partnership initiatives, providing participants with diverse learning experiences. She affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to continuously enhancing the summer programme and expanding its offerings to meet the evolving aspirations of the nation and the needs of students.
Hessa Lahdan Al Muhannadi, Director of Al Khor Secondary School for Girls Centre, attributed the programme’s success to the Ministry’s continued support and its dedication to making productive use of students’ summer holidays while identifying and nurturing young talent.
