Doha: Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), operated by AMLAK Holding, has won three awards from as many associations for excellence as one of the leading convention and exhibition centres globally and its commitment to sustainability.
QNCC was awarded by Tarsheed, the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency, which was initiated in 2012 by the Conservation and Energy Efficiency department of Kahramaa under the patronage of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to help achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.
The significant achievements of the ongoing programme have added values to the efforts of all Tarsheed’s partners who are contributing in achieving the set out targets of reducing Electricity and Water consumptions by 20 percent and 35 percent, respectively until 2017.
Tarsheed awarded QNCC the Best Conserving Building Award for its sustainability efforts; AMLAK received the award at the ceremony.
QNCC was also awarded The Best Conference and Convention Centre at World Tourism Forum’s ‘Oscars of Tourism’ Awards, a platform that brings the attendees and the leaders of world tourism together. QNCC also won the title of the Middle East’s leading exhibition and convention centre for the third year in a row by the World Travel Awards, voted for by travel and tourism professionals worldwide.
“I would like to congratulate and thank all those at QNCC and AMLAK, without whom these achievements would not be possible. It is through the coming together of our people, culture and environment, that ensures lasting conservation practices and enables achievements recognised by Tarsheed’s Best Conserving Building Award,” said Ken Jamieson, General Manager, QNCC. “Our building is about 32 percent more efficient when compared with other buildings of a similar size and design. It is through simple actions, such as utilising maximum daylight inside and installing an efficient lighting system throughout the premises, which enables us to reduce our carbon footprint and look forward to a more sustainable tomorrow.”
Abdulaziz Al Emadi, CEO, AMLAK Holding, said, “We support the sustainable development of Qatar economically, socially and environmentally through all our operations and entities. QNCC is focused on continuous improvement, which is why it continually strives to be the best convention and exhibition centre in the Middle East and beyond.
