DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) recently organised a health exhibition at Um Hakeem Independent Secondary School for Girls as part of its continued efforts to share health education knowledge with students.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Maryam Al Shahwany, Principal and Owner of the School License, and Balqees Al Khazraji, HMC’s Director of Health Professions Awareness and Volunteering Programmes.
Al Khazraji highlighted the importance of organizing health exhibitions at schools to build strong relationships between public institutions and students, as well as helping foster a culture of engagement in social responsibility and encourage volunteer activities amongst students.
“By organising this exhibition, HMC is aiming to help the next generation of students enjoy better social, physical and psychological health. It also demonstrates our commitment to serve our community by providing health awareness and educational activities that will enable community members to make healthy lifestyle choices and adopt preventive practices to protect themselves from different types of diseases and injuries,” Al Khazraji said. Participants were able to learn more about HMC’s recruitment process and job opportunities in the healthcare sector. They were also able to obtain information about organisations providing volunteer activities and training opportunities.
The exhibition was attended by representatives of different hospitals and departments within HMC including Al Wakra Hospital and Heart Hospital, the Health Professions Awareness and Volunteering Programs, Medical Education Department, Ambulance Service, Home Healthcare Service, Audiometry Unit at Women’s Hospital and the departments of Dentistry, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Dietetics, Pharmacy and Surgery, as well as representatives from the Smoking Cessation Clinic, Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Center, Hamad International Training Center, Blood Donation Center, Special Education Center and Qatar Organ Donation Center.
