Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has ordered the administrative closure of a company for one month and imposed a fine of QR1 million for violating consumer protection regulations.

The Ministry said the company was penalized for increasing prices without obtaining prior approval from the Ministry and for failing to comply with the approved pricing regulations.

The violation falls under Article 10 of Law No. 8 of 2008 on Consumer Protection, according to MoCI.

As part of the penalty, the company will remain administratively closed for one month in addition to the financial fine.
