Al Wakrah players celebrate after scoring a goal against Al Markhiya, yesterday.
Doha: Al Sadd put up a dominant show to thrash Al Sailiya 4-0 at the QNB Stars League (QSL) at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium yesterday.
The defending champions provided a glimpse of their authority and class holding sway and not providing any leeway to the opponents.
Al Sadd led 3-0 at half time and their goals came from Akram Afif (10th minute), Guilherme Torres (25th minute), Baghdad Bounedjah (31st minute), Ahmed Sayyar (75th minute).
The victory saw the defending champions Al Sadd consolidate their third place in the rankings with 28 points. Al Sailiya slid to the bottom position in 15th with 9 points.
Al Wakrah also posted an identical victory as they outclassed Al Markhiya 4-0 at Thani Bin Jassim Stadium
Mohamed Benyettou (2nd minute and 70th minute) scored a brace while Hazem Shehata (14th minute) and Yousuf Abdurrisag (90+1 minutes) were the other scorer.
The Blue Waves moved to fourth with 23 points edging Al Gharafa and Qatar SC on goal difference.
Earlier at the same venue, Al Gharafa and Al Ahli played out a 1-1 draw in yesterday’s first match.
Mehdi Tahrat scored for Al Gharafa in the 30th minute and Abdulrasheed Ibrahim equalized for Al Ahli in the 66th minute.
Al Ahli’s Sofiane Hanni was shown the red card in 90+7 minute.
Al Gharafa and Al Ahli moved on to 23 and 21 points respectively. The first-leg match between Al Gharafa and Al Ahli had ended in a 3-3 draw.
