A collaboration between Texas A&M University at Qatar and Qatar Foundation (QF) is giving young Qatari employees on-the-job experience in the workplace.
Texas A&M at Qatar and QF solidified the partnership recently by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a national trainee programme where Qatari nationals are embedded in QF organisations for one year to get firsthand, real-world experience.
Commenting on the agreement, Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Naimi, Chief Operations Officer of Qatar Foundation, said, “Young people are our greatest asset, and we are delighted to sign MoU with Texas A&M University at Qatar. This initiative helps QF to promote lifelong learning, while providing greater professional opportunities to empower future generations.
Wadha Al Thani, a Texas A&M at Qatar graduate, has been working at the branch campus in the Office of Development, Engagement and Outreach since summer 2016. She brings her engineering education and academic background to Texas A&M at Qatar’s Dhia: Engineering Leaders STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) outreach programmes where she serves as a positive role model of a successful Qatari engineer for young girls participating in the educational programmes.
