Doha, Qatar: With the start of the second academic semester approaching, schools across the country are intensifying preparations to ensure a smooth and successful return for students tomorrow.
Khaled Issa Al-Muhaiza, Principal of Nasser bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Secondary School, outlined the key measures being taken to create a supportive learning environment from day one.
Speaking to Qatar TV recently, Al-Muhaiza said that the school, like other educational institutions, has completed all necessary arrangements to welcome students back after the mid-year break.
These preparations include the availability of textbooks, the readiness of academic schedules, and direct communication with parents through official messages to keep them informed. He added that special attention has also been given to preparing teachers psychologically and professionally to engage positively with students and help them transition smoothly into the new term. Acknowledging that the second semester is relatively long, Al-Muhaiza expressed hope that students would remain motivated and committed throughout the term. “We hope this semester will be a strong motivator for students to achieve the highest results they aspire to,” he said.
In the same context, educational consultant Rashid Al-Awda Al-Fadhli shared a set of educational and psychological tips for parents on how to help their children prepare for returning to school after the holiday.
Al-Fadhli stressed the importance of family support, describing the family as the primary source of motivation, care, and stability for students. He urged parents to engage their children in constructive educational dialogue from the first evening back, focusing on encouragement, reassurance, and emotional containment.
He also advised parents to stay closely involved with their children during the first week of school, suggesting a reduction in social outings to help students readjust to their routines. Al-Fadhli further recommended that parents accompany their children, especially younger students in preparatory and primary stages, to and from school during the initial days.
In addition, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that students’ school supplies are ready, along with maintaining healthy routines related to nutrition and sleep.
“Attention to students’ physical, psychological, and educational readiness plays a crucial role in setting them up for a successful semester,” he concluded.
