Some 350 students from 10 private schools discussed serious political, social and environmental issues of the world at the first Model UN Conference 2012 hosted by the MES Indian School yesterday.
Students from seven Indian schools and three international schools took part in the event. The participants, divided into various committees discussed 16 topics at the mock assembly such as reforming the UN, post-conflict reconstruction in Libya, Eurozone debt crisis, waste management system and bio-diversity. A number of senior diplomats and other dignitaries also attended the event. T P Sreenivasan, former Indian ambassador to the UN delivered, the key-note address.
