Ideal Indian School celebrated its 30th Annual Day on October 30-31 in the school premises showcasing India’s cultural heritage and global unity. The two-day event featured performance by the students from Kindergarten, Junior, Girls and Boys Sections.
On the first day, Dinesh Udenia, First Secretary, Embassy of India, was the Chief Guest. Lt Col Ghanim Saad Al Khayarin, Community Policing Officer, Community Policing Depart was the guest of honour.
In his keynote address Udenia emphasised on the importance of promoting extracurricular activities in the schools that provide the students the opportunity to acquire more valuable skills which are necessary in their later part of life. “The benefits of co-curricular activities should be actively promoted which help the students to prepare themselves to succeed in the many and varied roles they will undertake in future life,” he said.
Saad Al Khayarin, lauded the Indian expatriate community for their notable contribution to the development of Qatar. He appreciated the management and staff for facilitating and imparting quality education to the students.
Speaking on the occasion school President Dr Hassan Kunhi M P said that IIS is committed in modernising teaching and learning process by providing latest infrastructure facility. Principal Syed Shoukath Ali presented the annual report enumerating the school’s achievements and the latest milestones in all arenas.
The Annual Day is also an occasion to honour the students for their outstanding performance in CBSE examinations every year.
Gold and Silver medals were awarded to the school toppers in classes 10 and 12 examinations held in March 2014. The school staff completing their 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of dedicated services to the school were also felicitated on the occasion.
The second day featured a cultural extravaganza titled “Ekata”, which portrayed a magical journey through India’s rich cultural heritage. About 2,000 students from all the four sections mesmerised the audience by their enthralling stage show. The cultural fiesta comprised of a variety of programmes including dances — classical, folk, western, fusion — and songs, mime, musical, fashion show and plays in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Urdu, Tamil and French.
Head Girl Sana Shanavas welcomed the gathering and Head Boy Aakash Gireesh proposed the vote of thanks. Padma Ramaswamy, Vice Principal, Girls Section, Shobhana Menon, Headmistress Junior Section, and Anwar M K, Coordinator for Cultural Activities, coordinated the programme.

The staff members teaching Class XII received an appreciation letter from Smriti Irani, Minister for HRD, Govt of India, in regard to their performance in teaching Class XII students and obtaining high marks in their CBSE Class XII Examination held in March 2014.
