Doha: In cooperation with the UNESCO office in Doha, the Cultural Village Foundation- Katara is set to launch the second edition of the annual awaited event, titled, 'The Cultural Diversity Festival' on Wednesday and will run till October 11.
'The Cultural Diversity Festival' will witness the participation of folkloric groups from more than twenty different countries. The opening of the festival will commence with a performance by a spectacular Qatari folkloric group at Katara's Amphitheatre, after which a Palestinian group will perform.
Moreover, the festival will feature a wide array of cultural performances reflecting authentic cultural identity representing more than 20 countries. As for this edition, new countries shall participate, such as; Qatar, Palestine, Lebanon, Algeria, Ethiopia, Togo, South Africa, China, South Korea, Pakistan, Iran, Chechnya, Turkey, Hungary, Germany, Slovakia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, United Kingdom, Mexico, and Brazil.
Starting Wednesday, Katara is also showcasing 40 canvases painted by artist Zarmik. The exhibition will be held in building 19 and will run till October 8.
"I am pleased to present the first exhibition in Katara, this beautiful and attractive cultural edifice," Zarmik said. As for her exceptional exhibition, Zarmik confirmed that she painted her canvases with her fingers and did not rely on the brush. In this way, she wanted to draw a close relation between her specialties in gastronomy and her passion in colors and drawing.
Zarmik added: "I brought my specialty in hospitality and cuisine all together with my love for colors and drawing to present an experience reflecting me". She said each of her paintings tells a certain story of her life. Indicating that she worked to focus on the presence of women and she chose to address the exhibition in the name of her mother for her love and sacrifices, as the mother is symbol of tenderness, affection and love.
