Doha keen to join ACT Group

New York: Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said Qatar supports the initiative of Accountability, Consistency and Transparency Group (ACT) to adopt a Code of Conduct on actions taken by the UN Security Council against genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
He was speaking at a ministerial meeting on Security Council actions against crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, on the sidelines of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.
The Minister expressed Qatar’s keenness to join the group, reaffirming Qatar’s stance which is in line with the objectives of the group, and its commitment to comply with international law and efforts to end violations of international humanitarian law and human rights law.
Qatar will continue working with partners in the international community to promote international peace and security, he added. 
He referred to Qatar joining on Wednesday a declaration to restrict the use of veto power in the face of mass atrocities, submitted by France, a permanent member of the Security Council. QNA
