Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar participated in the Extraordinary Meeting of Their Excellencies the Members of the Ministerial Committee for Agricultural Cooperation and Food Security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held yesterday via videoconference. The State of Qatar was represented by a delegation headed by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipality H E Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Al Ali.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance Gulf integration in strategic sectors in light of the decisions of the 19th Consultative Meeting of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the Leaders of the GCC Member States. It also reviewed measures aimed at strengthening strategic food reserves, ensuring the smooth flow of supply chains, and facilitating the movement of food commodities among member states, thereby contributing to the enhancement of Gulf food security.
In his address during the meeting, the Undersecretary emphasised that regional and international developments require stronger coordination and integration among GCC countries. He noted that food security has become a fundamental pillar of security and stability, adding that recent global developments and experiences have underscored the importance of unifying efforts and enhancing preparedness to address various challenges.
His Excellency further stated that the meeting represents a new step toward establishing a more integrated, resilient, and sustainable Gulf food security system, one that supports the aspirations of GCC member states.
