Doha: Minister of Environment H E Ahmed Amer Mohamed Al Humaidi received an Indian Cultural Centre delegation and praised their contribution to 2015 National Environmental Day awareness campaigns.
The delegation comprised ICC President Girish Kumar, Vice-President Seenu Sundararajan Pillai and General Secretary Divakar Poojari and Abookattil, Head of Consular & Affiliation.
The Minister presented appreciation mementos to Kumar and Pillai and thanked them for efforts to protect the environment.
Abdullah Mohammed Al Kuwari, Director, Environmental Education and Awareness Department, Muhsen Zayed Al Khayarin, Director, Public Relations & Communication Department at the ministry were present.
Al Khayarin expressed gratitude to the international community for joining hands with the ministry for campaigns.
He said Filipino Community Centre and Nepali Community Centre have come forward to be part of 2016 awareness campaigns.
The delegation briefed the Minister on plans for environment events through socio-cultural organisations and Green Captain Forum in cooperation with international communities.
It urged the ministry to provide space to build permanent facilities for the Indian and other communities to coordinate awareness campaigns and events in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
Al Kuwari said it will be considered part of the ministry’s environmental awareness and community outreach strategy.
