Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar strongly condemned the Iranian attacks on civilian targets in Kuwait and Bahrain, including those that targeted Kuwait Airport, causing severe damage to a number of its facilities and injuring several individuals.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, said that Qatar regards these attacks as a grave violation of the sovereignty of both countries, a flagrant breach of the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols, and a violation of the principles of international humanitarian law — particularly the principle of distinction, the prohibition on targeting civilians and civilian objects in armed conflict, and the prohibition of indiscriminate attacks.

The Ministry affirmed Qatar's absolute rejection of targeting of civilian objects and vital installations, and emphasized the necessity of sparing the region the consequences of unjustified attacks, and the importance of working toward de-escalation to restore security and stability at both the regional and international levels.

The Ministry reiterated Qatar's full solidarity with the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its support for all measures they take to preserve their sovereignty and security.
