A newly opened mosque in the Ain Khaled area.
Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Mosques Department, has inaugurated a new mosque in the Ain Khaled area, featuring a dedicated Eid prayer ground, a fully integrated two-storey Quran Learning Center, two imam residences, and accommodation for a muezzin.
Built on a sprawling 25,000-square-meter site, the new religious complex is designed to serve as a comprehensive spiritual, educational, and community landmark for residents of the area, reinforcing the mosque’s role in promoting faith, learning, and social cohesion.
The project was funded by the General Directorate of Endowments through the generous support of donors and benefactors. It forms part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to expand and develop mosques across the country in line with urban growth and population increases, while supporting the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 in strengthening community development and preserving Islamic identity and values.
The ministry highlighted that building and maintaining mosques represents one of the most enduring forms of charitable giving, given their central role in facilitating worship, teaching the Holy Quran, and fostering religious and moral values within society.
The newly opened mosque, designated Mosque No. MS 1404, includes a main prayer hall accommodating 1,330 male worshippers and a women’s prayer hall with capacity for 135 worshippers, bringing the mosque’s total capacity to 1,465 worshippers.
The facility also features spacious ablution areas, integrated service amenities, extensive parking spaces—including dedicated parking for persons with disabilities, and well-organised access points to ensure smooth movement. A prominent minaret adds an architectural and aesthetic dimension to the mosque.
A key component of the project is the attached Quran Learning Center, which has been designed as a comprehensive educational facility dedicated to Quran memorisation, recitation, and reflection. The two-storey centre includes 10 fully equipped classrooms serving learners of different age groups, a multi-purpose hall for educational, cultural, and community activities, and a library that supports the intellectual and religious development of students and visitors.
The facility also contains 13 administrative, technical, and supervisory offices, additional service rooms, multiple restrooms, and a spacious courtyard suitable for various activities and events.
Officials said the center will provide valuable opportunities for children and youth in Ain Khaled to learn and memorise the Holy Quran while benefiting from educational and character-building programmes that strengthen Islamic values and religious identity. The center is also expected to play a significant role in promoting Quranic education and scholarly activities in the area through a range of learning and awareness initiatives.
The project also includes a dedicated Eid prayer ground covering 3,000 square meters and capable of accommodating more than 4,000 worshippers. The facility can host 3,680 male worshippers and 375 female worshippers during Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha prayers.
According to the ministry, the Eid prayer ground reflects its commitment to providing integrated religious facilities within residential neighbourhoods, enabling residents to perform religious observances in a comfortable and well-organised environment amid continued urban expansion and population growth.
