The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has announced the launch of new digital, paper-less services as part of its plan to transform its services, leveraging modern digital technology solutions. This initiative is part of MoL’s efforts to automate its services to achieve operational excellence and enhance end user satisfaction.
This new launch includes four automated services online which were only processed manually before. These include the service for request for temporary work visas, the service of adding a governmental contract to the establishment registry, the service of requesting labour recruitment for government and semi-governmental institutions and the service of requesting labour recruitment for QFC companies.
The service for requesting temporary work visas for companies and institutions allows any establishment to submit an online application with the Ministry to issue temporary work visas for employees to work in Qatar. The same applies to the service of issuing labour recruitment approval for governmental and semi-governmental entities seeking to recruit workers from outside the country and employ them to work for them.
The service of adding a government contracting to a facility registry for companies allows the possibility of documenting a contract they have with the government entity that owns the project, while the service of issuing labour recruitment approval for QFC companies enables the Qatar Financial Group to submit a request for approval to recruit private labour for its affiliated companies.
The service of requesting labour recruitment for governmental and semi-governmental institutions allows these specific institutions to apply for employee work visas online via the Ministry’s digital platform.
Recruitment requests for government agencies will be approved automatically if they meet the the automation standards, with the previous six-step approval process now being completed in a single step thus, significantly reducing the time taken to receive approvals.
The digital transformation management unit relies on the “Agile” methodology, and this rendered it as the trailblazing institution in Qatar to rely on this engineering that provides the ability to launch new services and updates on a monthly basis, inducing a significant change in the average issuance period of approximately 6 to 8 weeks.
The Ministry of Labour underlined its endeavor to launch a comprehensive electronic system channeling all the services it provides during forthcoming period, especially for companies that are subject to the provisions of the law, expounding that it is coordinating with the various authorities concerned with developing e-services provided to the public to ensure the quality of services.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Labour currently provides nearly 47 e- services and transactions through its website https://www.mol.gov.qa/.
