DOHA: The new academic year (2015-2016) begins on September 6, the Supreme Education Council (SEC) has announced.
All Independent school staff must report for duty after the summer holidays on August 30 while classes start on September 6, according to the annual academic calendar approved by Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Mohammed Abdul Wahid Al Hammadi.
The SEC has issued a circular to Independent schools to complete preparations for the new academic year in advance, make arrangements to maintain student discipline and ensure safety of children at the campus. The schools have been asked to activate e-System for student attendance from the first day of the academic year and feed information daily. All schools should fulfil safety and security procedures.
School furniture should suit the age and number of children in each class. The school should provide meals to children from the first day. Detailed instruction has been given about safety of school buses. Schools must appoint supervisors for their buses who are capable of dealing with children in the best manner.
Supervisors must make a list of students in every bus. The school must allot parking space for buses and private cars and demarcate entry and exit points for vehicles. The school should make a plan to accompany children as they board buses and employees concerned should check safety and security procedures and put their sign to show that everything is in order, said the circular.
