Doha: The country’s first Eid Festival begins today at Corniche starting with an hour Doha Balloon Parade, followed by a concert and fireworks display at night.
Seventeen giant balloons will be featured for this year’s first edition including Super Mario, Angry Birds, Dhow, tea pot and tea cup, whale shark, and dog among others. The stage is also set for the 7:30pm first day concert where Mahmoud Al Turki will be performing.
Carnival games, inflatables, roaming shows and food stalls are in place for the three day festival which will continue until Thursday, May 5. Helium balloon showcase will meanwhile start at 5:30pm until 11pm, and a daily fireworks display at 9pm will happen every day until the last day of the event.
Crowd entrance and line-up will begin at 3pm and people are advised to come in early as the festival expects daily visitors of 10,000 to 15,000 people. Spectators who will attend can use the Metro for easy travel and park and ride facilities are also available across the Doha Metro network.
Meanwhile, Karwa is offering free bus shuttle services for the three day festival.
It has 70 buses to ferry visitors to the festival at Corniche. The shuttles operate at a 10-minute frequency.
