Ooredoo hosted a number of activities across Qatar to celebrate International Labour Day yesterday.
To help thank Qatar’s diverse workforce for helping Qatar grow and evolve, Ooredoo distributed healthy snacks and food vouchers across Qatar’s work camps. The Ooredoo team also gave away free international calling vouchers and Hala Cards to help keep labourers connected to the Supernet.
To help ensure workers can top-up, pay bills and find out about the latest money-saving options, Ooredoo also hosted a pop-up Ooredoo kiosk at Abu Nakhla.
Manar Khalifa Al Muraikhi, Director Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo, said: “We wanted to participate in International Labour Day to say thank you to Qatar’s workers for the hard work they contribute to developing and building our great country. This year we’re investing more than ever to celebrate the day and distribute a host of gifts.”
Ooredoo was also named Official Telecom Sponsor of the Dar Al-Sharq Labour Convention which took place 1 May at the Kempinski Hotel - The Pearl.
The event, which was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, aimed to discuss future ways to protect labour rights in Qatar.
Several local and global leaders attended the event, and as sponsor, Ooredoo was also published in the 2017 Labour Day book entitled ‘Employers and Labourers, Overall Reformation’ which highlighted the work Ooredoo is doing to be an employer of choice in the region.
Every year the world’s working class population is honoured on May 1 by 80 countries around the world with International Labour Day. Labour Day is a celebration of the economic and social achievements of workers.
