Yemeni FM praises Qatar's support to his country

DOHA: Yemeni Foreign Minister, Riyad Yassin praised affirmation of the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar's support to Yemen's legitimacy.

In an exclusive interview with Qatar's leading Arabic daily Al-Sharq, Yassin hailed Qatar's positive role in trying to resolve problems of the Yemeni people and achieving much of development in Yemen, notably with affirmation of the Emir when he met Yemen's Vice-President and Prime Minister Khaled Bahah that Qatar to work to rehabilitate and reconstruct Yemen so as to become an active member in GCC, adding that after realizing security and stability in Yemen we must all work to reconstruct and rehabilitate it and that this stage may extend to ten years.

Yemeni Foreign Minister also praised the role of Qatar within the corridors of the United Nations through Qatar's Permanent Representative Ambassador Sheikha Alya bint Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani who explained to the international community what happens in Yemen where some wanted to obscure the truth and percept it as a conflict between Shia and Sunni Muslims or there is a revolution according to Houthi claims.

Her words have a wonderful echo, her interventions at the United Nation's corridors have contributed to enabling the international community to understand what is happening in Yemen, he said.

Yassin noted that his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah focused on a lot of advices and support, noting that Al Attiyah confirmed that Qatar fully understands what is going on in Yemen, stressing Qatar's unlimited support for Yemeni legitimacy under the leadership of President Abd Rabbo Mansur Hadi.

The Yemeni Foreign Minister also stressed that Qatar has played a big role in the issue of humanitarian aid, referring in this respect to the arrival of two aircraft in Djibouti from Qatar laden with 70 tonnes of relief materials, such as food and medicines.

He pointing out that he personally oversaw the reception of the two aircraft, explaining that a large part of their aid materials were moved on to Aden and other Yemeni citifies amid difficult circumstances.

He affirmed that the Qatari role in supporting Yemen is now doubling, especially after the visit of Yemen's Vice President and Prime Minister Khaled Bahah to Doha and the talks he held with Qatari officials.
