DOHA: The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has invited the private sector to take part in its national E-Health project that aims to provide a single collection point for patient information.
SCH will hold the first National E-Health Private Sector Forums, on May 5 and May 6, for private healthcare providers and for consultancies and IT vendors, respectively. The events will take place at the SCH premises.
These Forums will provide an opportunity for the private sector to learn about the plan for E-Health in Qatar, including how private companies will be involved in the E-Health ecosystem.
Today, the patient is mostly burdened with the task of coordinating interactions between providers and stakeholders to ensure the continuity of their own care. The information is fragmented, leading to the duplication of medical tests and redundant efforts, and this can affect the quality of patient care and overall patient experience.
The E-Health Establishment project will tackle today’s challenges by producing a personal health record for each patient, integrating information from all providers, and from patients themselves. Patients will be able to access and contribute to their personal health record, for example, in uploading data from personal fitness devices. This data will be available to health providers, with permission from the patient.
The personal health record will also enable the sharing of tests, diagnostic reports and prescriptions, to help support more coordinated patient care.
Dr Faleh Mohamed Hussain Ali, Assistant Secretary General for Policy Affairs, Supreme Council of Health, said: “The importance of transforming the patient experience cannot be underestimated. The National Health Strategy (NHS) is working to create a new national E-Health strategy that will support the transformation of our healthcare system with a world-class, sustainable, integrated and secure national E-Health ecosystem. The patient journey will be enhanced by bringing greater transparency, providing access to higher quality and safer health care services while securely collecting health data to support better policy decisions. The private sector will have an important role to play in this transformation.”
