Muzaffarnagar--As many as 140 bonded labourers, including woman and children, were rescued from a brick kiln in Bhanwada village by the district authorities.
Acting on a complaint of bonded labourers being used in the brick kiln, a raid was conducted on Saturday and 140 workers hailing from West Bengal were freed, Sub-divisional Magistrate J P Gupta said on Sunday.
The labourers were being paid a paltry amount by the owner, he said, adding, they have been sent to their native state.
