Doha, Qatar: Aspire Academy has announced that its flagship “Aspire in the World Fellows - The Workshop Tour” will make its European debut in Bucharest next month, marking the third stop of the global initiative aimed at advancing youth football development through international knowledge exchange.
According to posts on the academy’s social media accounts, the Workshop Tour Europe, Bucharest 2026 will take place on April 20 and 21 at the National Arena, the Romanian capital’s iconic venue. Organised in collaboration with the Romanian Football Federation (FRF), the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the European Union Delegation, the event brings together leading figures from global football to share expertise with Aspire’s network of fellows.
A highlight of the two-day programme will be a special “Star Chat” featuring Romanian football legends Gheorghe Hagi and Ilie Dumitrescu. The session is expected to offer unique insights into leadership, player development and the evolution of the game from two of Europe’s most respected names.
Alongside the event, a CSR initiative focused on sustainability with children will take place at the National Football Centre in Mogosaia on April 22.
Sessions will focus on best practices in youth talent identification, coaching methodologies, sports science and sustainable development in football.
This latest edition follows highly successful stops in South America (Buenos Aires, 2024) and Asia (Singapore, 2025). The Workshop Tour forms a key pillar of Aspire Academy’s Aspire in the World Fellows programme, which now includes 51 member organisations worldwide. Launched to foster global collaboration, the programme connects elite clubs, national federations and leagues to accelerate the growth of young football talents through shared knowledge and innovation.
Aspire Academy, Qatar’s premier sports and education institution, has positioned itself as a global hub for talent development since its establishment. The academy’s unique model integrates world-class training facilities with academic excellence, producing generations of athletes who compete at the highest levels while preparing them for life beyond sport.
The decision to bring the tour to Europe underscores Aspire’s expanding international footprint and its commitment to building bridges between continents. The partnership with the FRF, announced late last year, made Romania the latest addition to the Aspire in the World Fellows network and set the stage for this landmark European edition.
Organisers say the Bucharest workshop will not only deliver cutting-edge football education but also promote values of sustainability and social responsibility through joint corporate social responsibility initiatives with European partners.
With the tournament dates fast approaching, anticipation is building in Romanian football circles. The event is expected to attract coaches, academy directors, sports scientists and young talents from across the Aspire network, further strengthening the academy’s role as a catalyst for global football progress.
Aspire Academy officials described the European leg as a significant milestone that reinforces Qatar’s contribution to worldwide sports development while creating new opportunities for cross-cultural learning and collaboration.
