Qatar Museums (QM) will host two dynamic educational events for the whole family at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) on Saturday.
QM’s successful Treasure Hunt returns on Saturday from 12.30pm and 3.30pm in which adults, children and families across Qatar can take part, compete and win prizes. It is an educational adventure which will see visitors taken on a unique journey through MIA and QM Gallery Al Riwaq, explore one of the world’s greatest collections of Islamic Art, discover artworks by artist Dia al-Azzawi and take part in a series of challenges.
There will be two treasure hunts taking place simultaneously, one for families with young children and another for families with children over 12 years old. Mathaf will host a family day from 2pm to 5pm, in collaboration with University College London. The event is designed to encourage families to make the most of one of QM’s biggest exhibitions currently on show - I am the cry, who will give voice to me? Dia al-Azzawi: A Retrospective (from 1963 until tomorrow)’. The event will allow children to explore colours and shapes through various creative activities. In addition, people will be encouraged to visit the exhibition, express their ideas and highlight what inspires them by producing their own artwork – whether painting, creating collages or sculptures.
The exhibition at Mathaf, which is running simultaneously at QM Gallery Al Riwaq until April 16, spans work by the internationally acclaimed Iraqi artist Dia al-Azzawi starting as an art student in Iraq in the 1960’s.

Spaces for the Treasure Hunt event are limited. Tickets cost QR50 per group of up to five people and can be purchased at the MIA Gift Shop. To RSVP to Mathaf’s Family Day, email mathaf_education@qm.org.qa before Friday.
