QIFF expected to bring more tourists

The Tourism Information Centre at the Abu Samra border crossing set up by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is witnessing greater activity as the eighth annual Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) continues.
The festival is expected to witness increase in tourist arrivals as it is timed to coincide with the spring breaks of Qatar’s neighbouring source markets.
The centre provides visitors with all they need to know about the 11-day Festival, as well as other events and experiences they can enjoy throughout their stay. In addition, Qatar International Adventures, Regency Travel & Tours and Katara Hospitality are also presenting their services to provide visitors with a seamless experience, with representatives on hand to help facilitate visitors’ stay, starting from hotel accommodation to outdoor excursions.
Saif Al Kuwari, Director of Public Relations and Communication at QTA, said: “At QTA we aim to enhance the visitor’s complete tourism experience. As QIFF draws visitors from around the region who seek to savour the different flavours of Qatar, it is our pleasure to offer all visitors and neighbours a smooth and welcoming experience from the moment they arrive until they return home.”
He added, “We are grateful for the collaborative spirit shown by our various private sector partners and government agencies to make these centres possible.”
Another QTA kiosk has opened in the transit area of Hamad International Airport (HIA), offering an opportunity to the 30 million travellers passing through HIA to experience Qatar virtually through a video telescope showing 360-degree videos of the destination. It also hosts a photo booth, which visitors can use to eternalise their memories of Qatar, and visitor brochures available in six languages. The opening of the kiosk follows the recent introduction of a free transit visa, which allows passengers of all nationalities with a minimum transit time of five hours at HIA to stay in Qatar for up to four days.
