doha: A fine all-round display by Siraj enabled Kerala XI to overcome the challenge from Bangladesh Club during a Division A match at the Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament.
Batting first, Kerala Eleven piled up a demanding 278 for nine in 49 overs. Siraj anchored the innings and hit a stylish 78. Rifan was the second highest scorer with 40, while Jinith got 34 and Nazim made 25. Shagor picked three wickets.
Kerala Eleven battled hard to hold the upper hand against Bangladesh Club, who lost the wickets regularly and fell short of the target by 19 runs in the end. Mojahid led the chase with 65. Sumon hit 40 and was followed by Shagor (30) and Fokrul (28). Nazim was the pick of the Kerala Eleven bowlers, getting three wickets. Siraj, Faisal and Sajir all took two wickets each to stop the rivals.
Harris (39 runs and three wickets) starred for Al Feroz Youngster and set up a seven-wicket triumph over Commercial Bank Club. The bank men collapsed at 145 in 44 overs with Umer Taj missing a half-century by three runs. Harris sparked the rout, getting three scalps. Nadeem and Inam shared four.
Al Feroz just needed 30 overs to chase down the victory. Harris led the winning team’s batsmen with 39. Faisal hit 38 and Naveed collected 35 not out.
Al Hanzab pulled off a five-wicket victory against Wings DCC after Waqas and Fayyaz bowled well to share six wickets. Amjad also dismissed two players before they could get only 169 in 40 overs. Fauz (39) was the best run-getter.
Al Hanzab raced to the win in 33 overs as four players played useful knocks. Noor Wahid hit 37 not out and Siyabudeen made an unbeaten 23. Atif compiled 30 and Faisal managed 23.
