More rains are in store for people in Qatar with the weather bureau's all-new monthly climate outlook predicting a continuation of unstable weather conditions through out this month, especially in the second half.
The Meteorology Department, in an attempt to provide weather predictions on extended range time scale, began publishing monthly forecast last month. These outlooks, which are issued every Thursday on an experimental basis, will cover four weekly averaged forecasts of rainfall, winds, maximum and minimum temperature.
According to the monthly outlook, Qatar and adjacent regions are likely to experience unstable weather resulting in more rains in the second half of this month, compared to the first two weeks.
The outlook is based on forecasts available on March 1, said the Department.
It also shows that the north-westerly winds are likely to dominate during the first week, as seen currently. However, the wind would be weakening in the following week. The second half of March is expected to see more southerly to south-easterly winds in the region.
The night time (minimum) temperatures are likely to be near normal or slightly above normal during the month. However, the day time (maximum) temperature is expected to be lower than the usual temperature for the month, during all four weeks.
The first two weeks are expected to have less temperature than usual compared to the last two weeks. However, the Department has stressed that forecasts for the later part of the month could vary, and the weather outlooks will be updated every week.

“The Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has been issuing Seasonal Climate Outlooks since April 2014 and now (February, 2017) we are making an attempt to provide weather outlooks on extended range time scale,” said the Department on their website.
“The monthly outlook is based on global forecasts generated by the 'Extended Range Forecast System (ERFS)' of India Meteorology Department (IMD)," it added.
Meanwhile today, the weather would be hazy to misty over most areas at first and cloudy with scattered rain at places at times. The weather bureau has warned of low visibility over most areas inshore and rains accompanied by thunder at night offshore, today.
The wind would be variable at less than 3 knots at first, becoming North westerly to north easterly blowing at 3 to 12 knots. The visibility will be between 5 to 8 km , but could drop to less than 2km during misty conditions.
The maximum temperature in Doha would be 26 degrees Celsius, while minimum would be 19 degree Celsius. Messaieed, Al Wakrah and Al Khor would have a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and Ruwaise would have 23 degrees Celsius. Abu Samrah and Dukhan would have the highest temperature today at 28 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively. Minimum temperature outside the city would range between 18 to 16 degrees Celsius, at different places.
Tomorrow, the weather would be hazy to misty at places at first and cloudy skies with scattered rain , becoming thundery at places at times. Strong winds are expected on Saturday. The average temperature on Saturday would be between 18 to 25 degrees Celsius.
