Doha, Qatar: The Al Arabi Stadium was high in spirits as Loyola International School hosted its Annual Athletic Meet, bringing together students from both campuses in a celebration of athletic excellence and sportsmanship.
The event commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Saman Fonseka, Head Coach of the Qatar National Women’s and Under-19 Cricket Teams, accompanied by the Managing Director of Loyola International Schools – Qatar, Anup Chakravarthy.
The meet was officially declared open with the hoisting of the School Flag, a torch relay, and the ceremonial lighting of the cauldron. Addressing the gathering, Saman Fonseka commended the school for its well-structured sports programme and the discipline displayed by its students.
Principal Bhavana Vijaykumar highlighted the role of sports in building a strong sense of purpose among students and urged students to uphold the values of perseverance and fair play in every competitive endeavour. The School’s Managing Director, Anup Chakravarthy highlighted Loyola’s focus on preparing students for life beyond classrooms.
Overall Championship was awarded to Diamond House from the Al Wukair Campus and Emerald House from the Al Nasr Campus.
