NHRC opens office at HIA to aid World Cup visitors

Doha: The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) has inaugurated its office at Hamad International Airport (HIA) in preparation for receiving fans of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and providing various human rights and awareness services. 

As HIA prepares to receive visitors from different cultures, and countries this step will promote and protect the rights of the World Cup fans by spreading awareness and education of human rights consolidating international laws and treaties.

Secretary-General of NHRC Sultan bin Hassan Al Jamali stressed the importance of the Committee’s office at HIA to target visitors and act as a preventive mechanism against any violations, provide assistance related to human rights if necessary - as well as raising awareness by distributing brochures prepared by the Committee. He noted that with the participation of volunteers from the Omani National Human Rights Committee to work with the committee’s staff during the World Cup is a unique gesture - that reflects the values of humanity and sincere interdependence. He said the team will work in integration to provide everything that would make the World Cup a success, which is being held for the first time in the Middle East.

Abdulaziz Al Mas, Vice-President of the Marketing, Communications and Media Department at HIA expressed his happiness with the inauguration of the NHRC office.
