Indian Embassy receives 3,577 complaints

The Labour and Community Welfare Section at the Indian Embassy in Qatar has received a total of 3,577 complaints so far this year, while the number of complaints received during 2015 was 4,132, the embassy said in a press release yesterday.

A team from the embassy visited the Central Prison and Deportation Centre recently to enquire about the welfare of detainees from India. The total number of Indian nationals in the Central Prison and the Deportation Centre currently is 139 and 64, respectively.

A meeting to address urgent consular and labour issues of Indian nationals in Qatar was organised at the embassy recently. The new ambassador P Kumaran, Deputy Chief of Mission R.K. Singh and other officials met all the complainants and discussed their problems.
