Doha, Qatar: Khalifa bin Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani and Ahmed Jassim Al-Suwaidi won the Amateur class and Silver Tour respectively as the 10th edition of the Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour got underway yesterday at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s (QEF) indoor arena.
Khalifa topped the 100cm Amateur class in 19.28 seconds on Zion 2, finishing ahead of Nasser Hamad Al Thani, who clocked 19.34 seconds on Equinox. Salman Faisal Al-Marri took third in 20.03 seconds on Gravity.
Mohammed Saleh Al-Marri, Head of the Facilities and Logistics Committee, presented the awards to the Amateur class winners.
Al-Suwaidi claimed the 130cm Silver Tour in 31.25 seconds on Mona Lisa. Rami Younis finished second in 34.35 seconds on Mauran, while Mohammed Saeed Haidan was third in 42.30 seconds on Ekaterina.
Ahmed Jassim Al-Suwaidi begins season on a winning note.
Khajeem Faraj Al-Athba, Head of the Veterinary and Farriery Section at the Qatar Equestrian Federation, presented the awards to the Silver Tour winners.
The opening round of the 10th edition, organised by the QEF in partnership with Al Shaqab, continues today with the Future Riders class for riders aged 6–12 over 70cm obstacles at 4pm.
The Open Class (110cm) will follow at 5:30pm, before the day concludes with the Gold Tour, featuring individual and team competitions, at 8pm.
The Hathab Tour runs until June 2027 and comprises 14 rounds held at the QEF arenas and the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab.
