New York: Foreign Minister H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah chaired GCC ministerial meetings with US Secretary of State John Kerry and the foreign ministers of India and South Korea on the sidelines of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly yesterday.
Talks dealt with latest regional and international developments.
Dr Al Attiyah also met the UN secretary-general’s Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on the sidelines of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly. Talks dealt with latest developments in Yemen.
He also met Special Representative for Iraq and Head of UN Assistance Mission for Iraq Jan Kubis and discussed the situation and political developments in Iraq.
The Minister held a separate meeting with his Sudanese counterpart Ibrahim Ahmed Ghandour and reviewed cooperation between the two countries, ways of developing them and issues of common interest.
He also met National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces President Khaled Khoja. Talks dealt with latest developments in Syria.
Dr Al Attiyah also chaired a meeting between GCC foreign ministers and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Meanwhile, Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs
H E Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi participated in a meeting on Yemen.
The meeting, called by Tobias Ellwood, Parliamentary State Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, UK, discussed the international community’s response to the situation in Yemen.
Al Rumaihi also participated in the sixth meeting of the Ministerial Mediation Action Group of Friends.
Foreign Minister’s Assistant for International Cooperation Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani met Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya Bernardino Leon and discussed latest developments in Libya and the UN-sponsored talks among Libyan parties .
He also met US Special Envoy for Libya Jonathan Winer and Deputy Director General for the Countries of the Mediterranean and Middle East, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Giuseppe Perrone, as part of coordination and preparation for a high-level meeting on Libya to be held today at the UN headquarters.
