DOHA: The West End Park will host the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-16 tournament featuring five teams later this month, the West End Park Chairman, Mana Ibrahim Al Mana announced yesterday.
Al Mana said the competing teams include Afghanistan, Iran, Hong Kong and UAE besides hosts Qatar. The tournament will be played from October 22 to 29.
The West End Park will also be hosting an Eid Twenty20 Festival fixture between the World XI and Asia XI sides.
“We are planning further events in the coming season,” said Al Mana.
“Hopefully, we will host big cricket events this season. After the ACC event, we will also announce to hold further tournaments,” he added.
It may be recalled that the West End Park hosted the Pakistan Cricket Board women’s triangular series in January, this year. Participating teams included South Africa and Ireland while over 10,000 fans turned out to wath the T20 Final. The venue also hosted the Challenge Cup, Ramadan Tournament and Eid Al Fitr cricket tournaments earlier this year. THE PENINSULA
