Doha, Qatar: The Oral Health Promotion and Prevention Department, in collaboration with the Health Education Department at the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), organised an oral health awareness event and dental screening initiative for Qatar Rail employees.
The event was held as part of the diverse activities of the “Ahlan Oral Health Campaign,” which includes a range of educational and preventive initiatives targeting various segments of the community across governmental, private, and community institutions.
The initiative aimed to enhance health awareness and encourage the adoption of preventive behaviours to maintain good oral health.
The event was delivered by PHCC’s dental and oral health professionals, alongside the Health Education team. Dental screenings were provided through a fully equipped mobile dental unit featuring independent dental chairs.
Participants also received oral health consultations, preventive guidance, and education on the importance of regular dental check-ups and early detection of oral health problems.
Manager of the Preventive and Promotional Oral Health Department at PHCC Dr. Najat Alyafei, stated that the event reflects PHCC’s commitment to promoting community health and raising awareness among different population groups, including employees in workplace settings.
She emphasized that oral health is an essential component of overall health and plays a significant role in an individual’s quality of life and physical and psychological well-being.
She added, “Awareness initiatives and on-site dental screenings help increase public understanding of the importance of prevention and early detection of oral diseases.
They also encourage individuals to adopt healthy practices that reduce the risk of oral health problems and contribute to maintaining healthy teeth and gums in the long term.”
The event included educational messages on proper toothbrushing techniques, the importance of using fluoride toothpaste, and the role of healthy nutrition in preventing dental caries and gum disease. Participants were also informed about the value of regular dental visits for the early identification and management of oral health conditions.
In addition, employees had the opportunity to benefit from individual clinical consultations and receive answers to their oral health-related questions from the participating healthcare teams, enabling them to make informed decisions about their oral health.
This initiative forms part of PHCC’s ongoing efforts to promote health and prevent disease by reaching people within their workplaces and strengthening a culture of oral health care as an integral component of overall health and well-being.
The event witnessed strong participation and positive engagement from Qatar Rail employees, who expressed their appreciation for the initiative and highlighted the importance of continuing such awareness and preventive activities to support employee health and wellbeing.
