Damascus: The number of aircraft transiting Syrian airspace in May 2026 reached 11,801, compared with 2,468 during the same month in 2025, marking growth of more than 378 percent, the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport (GACA) said.
In a post on the X platform, President of GACA Omar Al Hosari said these figures are the outgrowth of the return of confidence in Syrian airspace.
He emphasized that this implies that national efforts have pulled off advancing air navigation services, as well as operational safety and competency based on the best international standards.
He added that GACA is working to transform this growth into an enduring path and looks forward to doubling transit traffic throughout the months ahead by constantly strengthening services and carriers' trust in Syrian airspace.
