VP Binay says he expects Drilon to “railroad” approval of plunder charges against him

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay on Monday said he expects Senate President Franklin Drilon to railroad the approval of the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee report recommending the filing of plunder charges against him over the alleged overpriced construction of the Makati City Hall Building II.

Binay in a radio interview insisted that the Senate report is all part of a plan to derail his presidential bid next year.
He said he expects the report’s approval to be railroaded by Drilon to the plenary so it could be made official and transmitted to the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB).
“At the rate it’s going e kasama na nga ito sa pagiging kandidato ko sa pangulo, so sa malamang e papalusutin din ‘yan sa pangunguna ni [Senate President] [Franklin] Drilon (At the rate it’s going, since this is meant to derail my presidential bid, most likely, the report will be railroaded through the leadership of  [Senate President] [Franklin] Drilon),” the vice president said.

The subcommittee report also recommended the filing of plunder charges against Binay’s son Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. and several other individuals.

Binay earlier accused Drilon of being the brains behind a supposed plot of the ruling Liberal Party (LP) to destroy his chances of winning the presidency in next year’s election.
But then, Binay said the Senate report was useless since a plunder case involving the Makati City Building II has already been filed before the OMB last year.
